In a major setback for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), top-order batter Rajat Patidar has been ruled out of the entire IPL 2023 season due to an Achilles heel injury.
The team confirmed the news in a statement, expressing their disappointment at losing Patidar for the remainder of the tournament. "Unfortunately, Rajat Patidar has been ruled out of IPL2023 due to an Achilles Heel injury," the statement read. "We wish Rajat a speedy recovery and will continue to support him during the process."
Patidar, who has been a key player for RCB in recent seasons, has been in impressive form this year. The right-handed batsman scored an unbeaten 112 off 54 balls against Lucknow Super Giants in the league opener and has continued to contribute consistently at the top of the order.
His absence will be a significant blow to RCB, who are aiming to win their maiden IPL title. The team is currently placed third in the points table, having won four of their first six matches.
