Hans-Dieter "Hansi" Flick: German Football Manager and Former Player

Early Life and Playing Career

Born on February 24, 1965, in Heidelberg, Germany, Hans-Dieter "Hansi" Flick began his football career as a midfielder with SV Sandhausen. After moving to Bayern Munich in 1985, he played for the club until 1990, winning multiple Bundesliga titles and the German Cup.

Coaching Career

After retiring as a player, Flick began his coaching career as an assistant manager to Giovanni Trapattoni at Bayern Munich in 1996. He later worked as assistant manager at the German national team under Jürgen Klinsmann and Joachim Löw. In 2019, he became interim manager of Bayern Munich following the departure of Niko Kovač.

Success with Bayern Munich

Under Flick's leadership, Bayern Munich enjoyed immense success. The club won the Bundesliga, German Cup, and UEFA Champions League in the 2019-20 season, becoming the second club in history to achieve the treble. Flick was subsequently named FIFA Men's Coach of the Year in 2020.

German National Team

In 2021, Flick was appointed manager of the German national team, succeeding Löw. He led the team to the knockout stages of the 2022 FIFA World Cup, where they were eliminated by England in the Round of 16.
