Do These Things to Remove Lice From Stuffed Animals
Why stuffed animals can get lice
When someone has head lice, they can easily spread the lice to stuffed animals, bedding, and other objects that they come into contact with. Lice are tiny, wingless insects that live on the human scalp and feed on blood. They can lay eggs, called nits, on the shafts of hair. Nits are tiny, oval-shaped, and white or yellow in color.
How to clean stuffed animals
1. Vacuum stuffed animalsThe first step in cleaning stuffed animals is to vacuum them thoroughly. This will remove any loose lice or nits. Be sure to vacuum all of the surfaces of the stuffed animal, including the inside of the mouth and ears. 2. Wash stuffed animals
If the stuffed animal is machine-washable, you can wash it in hot water with a lice shampoo. Be sure to follow the directions on the shampoo label. If the stuffed animal is not machine-washable, you can hand-wash it in hot water with a lice shampoo. Be sure to rinse the stuffed animal thoroughly after washing it. 3. Dry stuffed animals
Once the stuffed animal is washed, it is important to dry it thoroughly. You can do this by putting it in the dryer on a low heat setting or by air drying it. Be sure to dry the stuffed animal completely before giving it back to your child.
